Dashi's Love: During a short or long rest, the bearer of this gem can spend one or more Hit Dice, up to half of their maximum Hit Dice. For each Hit Die spent in this way, they roll the die and add their Constitution modifier to it. Their hit point maximum is reduced by the total, and the gem stores the total, up to 30 hit points. This hit point maximum reduction can't be removed with the greater restoration spell or similar magic and lasts as long as hit points remain stored in the gem. They can't store hit points in the gem if they don't have blood.
When hit points are stored in the gem, they may choose one of four options:
- As an action, the bearer may choose to add up to the maximum hit points stored to any damage roll. They also may choose the type of damage that is different from the original damage roll.
- As a reaction to taking damage, the bearer of the gem may choose to release the current stored hit points in a sudden burst of chaotic energy. Creatures within 30 feet must make a Dexterity saving throw. Creatures take damage equal to the current stored hit points as force damage and are pushed back 10 feet on a failed save. On a successful save, creatures take half damage and are pushed back 5 feet.
- As a reaction, when the bearer or another creature within 10 feet makes an ability check or saving throw, the bearer of the gem may spend up to half of the current stored hit points and add it to the roll. It may be added after the roll, but before the outcome has been determined.
- As a bonus action, the bearer may spend stored hit points equal to half of the maximum hit point capacity to gain resistance to one damage type for 1 minute. If the bearer spends stored hit points equal to the maximum capacity of the gem, they may choose two resistances. This option cannot be used if stored hit points are below half of the maximum capacity.
Hit Dice spent on this gem's features can't be used to regain hit points during a short rest. You regain spent Hit Dice as normal. All current stored hit points must be paid before the bearer can refill the gem.
