The Sandstrider
Sandstriders are cousins to the lizardfolk species within the D&D lore. As their name suggests they live in dry, arid desert areas. They are a warrior centric species and originally were a nomadic species becfore the current Chieftain united the tribes. They are proud to being arrogant, borderline racist. They are very few in number, due to most of the inbreeding to keep the bloodline pure. They see most other species, while not useless, as simply not the "chosen" as they believe sandstriders were decended from the Sunfather. This was made with the Beringe race to be used in the current campaign that I am DMing. One of my players actually plays this species and quite likes it (the passive feature is great since he is a hunter). It was made with 2014 rules but pretty easy to adapt to 2024 by simply just removing the abiity scores.
Sandstrider
In the arid and unforgiving deserts of Ka’an, the Sandstriders emerge as a distinct subrace of lizardfolk, honed by the harsh environment and intricately adapted to thrive amidst the scorching sands.
The Sandstriders boast a sleek and slender build, allowing them to navigate the treacherous dunes with unparalleled agility. Their scales bear the hues of golden ochre and burnished copper, blending seamlessly with the desert landscape. Their elongated limbs and clawed hands are ideal for digging burrows, seeking refuge from the searing sun. Their keen eyesight, honed by the sun’s harsh glare, grants them an advantage in tracking prey and detecting potential dangers across vast distances.
They live in nomadic tribes, forming tight-knit communities that traverse the desert in search of sustenance and safety. Their culture is deeply rooted in the principles of survival and adaptation, valuing resourcefulness, resilience, and communal cooperation.
Within the expansive deserts of Ka’an, the Sandstriders revere Harahto, the Sunfather, as their divine progenitor and guardian. They firmly believe that they are the chosen descendants of this powerful deity, who embodies the essence of the sun, life, and boundless energy. They consider themselves custodians of the sun’s energy and guardians of life in the desert. The Sandstriders’ spiritual leaders, known as Sunweavers, serve as intermediaries between the tribe and Harahto.
In the vast deserts of Ka’an, the Sandstriders stand as a testament to the resilience of life in the harshest of environments. Their adaptation to the unforgiving desert, their resourcefulness, and their close-knit tribal bonds have allowed them to carve out a unique place in the sands, thriving as both fierce hunters and guardians of their ancestral homeland.
